A Musical Making Fun Of Musicals! Oh, the Irony!

Thanks to superstar PR god and internationally renown sex machine Charlie Cinnamon, I was able to see a preview performance of the hit musical from New York, "Forbidden Broadway." If you are a fan of theatre (and being one of the only straight guys at a performing arts college in Boston, you either ARE a fan or you don't graduate) then you will love this original musical that completly spoofs almost all major broadway shows and regular characters. It's heavy on reference humor, so be warned that if you haven't seen shows like A Chorus Line, Fiddler On The Roof, Wicked, Cats, Les Miserables, Chicago and pretty much every major stage show to hit broadway in the last 50 years then you would probably far more enjoy the latest Will Ferrell movie Semi-Pro.

Forbidden Broadway starts on MARCH 24th at the newly re-named (and bailed out) Carnival Center, now known as the Adrienne Arsht Center For The Performing Arts.

Joss Stone Thinks Buster's Lyrics Are Pretty!

Rock Bands Don't Play In Peoria!

The Good: Local boy Lee Dahlberg got his cool jewelery brand "ROCK BANDS" featured on CNBC's THE BIG IDEA With Donny Deutch last night in a segment called "Will it play in Peoria?" (A play on a term meaning "Will it be a hit with mainstream America.")

The Bad: Although the people who were asked loved the look, when they got to the $250 price tag, the people in Peoria were turned off.

It really doesn't matter though as Lee has whored out his brand in every gifting suite from Volleypalooza to the Super Bowl getting them on some very big celebrity wrists.

My View: FUCK PEORIA! If it's good enough for Christian Slater it's good enough for me! I mean really....didn't you see Pump Up The Volume!

Celebrity Photographer SETH BROWARNIK Takes the plunge!

Celebrity photographer Seth Browarnik (seen with me here in one of our various "let's be weird" pictures) popped the question to long-time girlfriend Melissa Katz (seen with some other guy below) from Ocean Drive Magazine.

On a personnal note: Seth and I started our "South Beach Scene" adventures together around 1999 while we were working for a small format scene magazine called Ego Trip. He then went on the work for severall magazines finally landing at Ocean Drive and Wire Image. Through his outstanding likability and talent for making freinds, he eventually gained more access than any other photographer in Miami. Celebrities coming to Miami would even call Seth to make sure they know what is going on when they came down to South Beach.

Today Seth has two assistants, Peter and Spencer who handle his various "Club" shots while Seth is whisked away to various global locations to shoot. Wether it's travelling with Lenny Kravitz to Brazil during his Live Earth concert or access into the most exclusive Super Bowl events, Seth has come a long way from the time he was shooting live chickens at 9am on the patio at Space.

Congratulations to Seth and Melissa from all of us at A3!

SIDE NOTE: Melissa should keep her name, as few people actualy know how to pronounce Browarnik properly anyway(Bro-War-nik)

THE MARTINI CONSPIRACY: Another Buster Theory

There is wild speculation about the history of the Martini and in point of fact it seems the actual origins of the drink are shrouded in the annals of time. Some say it was invented in Martinez, California when a bartender mixed a drink for a visiting miner who placed an olive in the glass before handing it to him and named it after his town. Still another story says the name came from the Martini & Henry rifle used by the British in 1871, the hook being that both the rifle and the drink "had a kick."

Personally, I'm not a Martini drinker, so I really don't give a crap about who invented the drink. What I do give a crap about is who the asshole is who came up with the actual glass the Martini is traditionally served in.....moreover due to it's completly illogical and innefficient design, I beleive the vessel to be a conspiracy by bar and club owners leading all the way back to the early 1900's.

Here's My Theory: Logical thinking would pre-suppose that a vessel created to hold a liquid would need to do so efficiently without spillage. The Martini glass is possibly the most innefficient design for holding liquid possible. As we all know, you cannot walk around a party with a full Martini glass, knowing that if you did you would end up with more on the floor than down your throat. Therefore, the glass is inherently designed for you to remain at the bar while you drink it leving you in the perfect position to order another as soon as the last drops are gone. If you do decide to chance it and cruise for babes, then through spillage, the glass becomes empty just as quickly and a new drink is needed to be purchased.

This completly inneficient design lends itself to high turnover and my beleif is that the Martini Glass in and of itself began as a conspiracy by bars owners to sell more drinks.

My tip: next time you ask for a Martini.....ask for it to be served in a wine glass. You may look like an asshole, but you'll be better off in the end.
